Looks like the Forecast Channel went live a day early.
Here's the message that I woke up to...
Quote:
To all our loyal Wii users,
Many thans for your continued
support and enjoyment of
Nintendo products.
We're proud to announce that the
Forecast Channel goes live today!
Using this Channel you can check
the weather forecast in your region
and spin the Globe to view weather
all around the world.
Press the "Update" button on the
right to update your Wii Menu.

Instantly, I tried it out. The system wanted to verify my system's date and time, then my location. (Hint: use the trigger button on the Wii to scroll faster, rather than clicking the down arrow.) Staten Island wasn't available, so I selected New York.
Woooo hooo... 44 and clear, how cute. There was a 5-day forecast option too. The background music is cheerful too. It also gave me the option to check the UV Index and weather around the globe. Spinning the globe is great fun. Use the plus and minus button on the Wiimote to zoom in and out.
This is great... now I don't have to sit through boring news shows to see the weather on my TV!
(Of course, I stopped doing that years ago - thanks to the Internet. Still, this is way cute!)
