I can type about 1-2 characters per second with the Wiimote. That post was about 1024 characters, so figure about 10-15 minutes. It could have been longer. It's definitely a slow process.
As for XNA, that's Microsoft's Game Studio Express. It's software to make PC and XBOX 360 games. See
