Grrr!

Heh, that post made me angry. I think that should be a new rule around here. You can't complain unless you post a suggestion. Heh, yes... I know there are other games out there, but where do I get the avatars? I looked at Lord of the Rings Online and they have a nice avatar page...

I spent a good part of the day resizing the Avatars from 80x80, down to 64x64. I found about 10 avatars that I liked. It wasn't enough. That's when I wrote to Gaile Gray. I was wondering if she had high res versions of the Guild Wars Profession Icons. I'm still waiting on that, but the email discussion lead to some interesting ideas...
  1. Why not just upload all of the skill icons? Roughly 800 icons should be enough to keep people happy, right?!
  2. 800 vs. 10 is kinda lopsided. Do I really want to mix Lord of the Rings with Guild Wars? Do we want people with Guild Wars Avatars writing about Lord of the Rings, or vise-versa? (Blogs are coming... soon!)
  3. Guild Wars 2 is not going to suck... is it?
That's when I started to really think about things. All of the other games come and go. Sure, I love playing Wii games, but this site is mostly about Guild Wars. Now while I don't mind discussion about other games, it's hard to deny that this site is associated with Guild Wars.

I'm in an excellent posistion here, to truly turn this site around. There were some mistakes that I made when the original version of Guild Wars was launched. Now that the forum is back, what should be done with it? I think it's time to have one of those huge traffic sites. When I first started in the Guild Wars community, I just wanted to make my electronic magazines. Yet, I found a strong community! It was fun being part of that. What's going to happen when Guild Wars 2 launches? I think this site should be part of the action.

So what does this mean?
  1. I added 105 Warrior Skill icons to the avatar section.
    (More are on the way!)
  2. The forum and the blogs will have a Guild Wars focus, but I'll leave the other forums open. It's fun to talk about game development and other video games.
Does that sound good to everyone?
