When you say that, do you mean this site or the Guild Wars community in general?
If I ran an MMORPG, I would keep in constant contact with the community... but I would do it Order of Whispers style. Why announce that you're an ArenaNet employee, not when you can secretly gather useful information? I would make it known that my operatives do exist in the community, but that their idenities are hidden. You'd never know who that forum member or party member could be.

If you announce that you're an ArenaNet employee, you're ultimately opening up yourself to abuse. You can't please everyone. Eventually you're going to run into a ranter. "Why did you nerf my solo farming. You suck!" Blah, blah, blah... there's always going to be something.
