Photics is on a distinguished road

The following games were not included...
  • The Legend of Zelda
  • Megaman 2
  • Ms. Pacman
  • World of Warcraft
  • Street Fighter
...and I'd probably put Guild Wars higher on the list.

I'm surprised to see this article on the NCsoft RSS feed. I could write two types of articles, "My favorite 50 games of all time" and "The top 50 games of all time". The latter would have to be more objective. I like Guild Wars more than World of Warcraft. But right now, the World of Warcraft series out sold Guild Wars. A critical look at the best video games of all time would have to consider that fact.

Wouldn't Windows Solitaire or Minesweeper have to be on the list?
What are the limits? Where's Tetris?

Why would Dr. Mario beat Tetris? If not for the success of Tetris, would there even be a Dr. Mario game? Would the Gameboy have been a success story without Tetris? There are games that change the industry and change people's lives. Where's Rockband, Guitar Hero or Dance Dance revolution? Where's Wii Sports?

Guild Wars is significant because it's an online role-playing game without a monthly fee. That should have revolutionized the MMORPG industry, but did it really change anything? World of Warcraft stole ArenaNet's thunder and game companies still continue to launch underwhelming MMORPGs with monthly fees.

To top WoW I think that the Guild Wars franchise needs to add a lot of things... like larger party sizes, World PvP, a feeling of a more persistent world and simplified gameplay. Players understand Fireball 1, Fireball 2 and Fireball 3. An elementalist skill bar shouldn't look like a thesaurus for the word "fire". From what I've been reading, Guild Wars 2 is sounding like a much better game than the original.

I don't see the importance of this list.
