I don't want to give away the story, but let's just clarify ages...
- Gwen is probably 18, as I'm thinking she was 12 before the searing.
- My character's appearance has not changed in the 3+ years since he was created. It's difficult to determine the actual age of the character.
- In the story, seven years have passed since Gwen and Photics last met.
I'm not going to get caught up in medieval ideology, where it was considered normal for a teenage girl to be married off. To prevent things from getting weird, let's assume modern customs. The question is, how old was Photics when he joined up with Ascalon academy? When does a man join the military in today's society? I'm thinking it's like late teens, early 20's. Let's say Photics joined up when he was 19. That would make him 26 years old in the story.
If Photics is 26 and Gwen is 18, that's not unusual. He's not old enough to be her father. He'd have to be like in his 50's and 60's to be her grandfather. Does that mean there's going to be a Gwen & Photics love story? The next episode should answer that question.
Lost in Ascalon was about finding Gwen. Now that she's found, does it really matter? Is the story over? Well, just as a reminder, Lost in Ascalon also means the loss of innocence. Life was happy and fun in the pre-searing days. Even now, my favorite Guild Wars zone is still the first zone - Ascalon City. Yet, the people of that city have not found peace. If you look at the lore for Guild Wars 2, things get even more messed up for the Ascalonians. Happiness was lost in Ascalon. The comic is centered around that theme. Gwen is the personification of that happiness.
...and hey, why do you suppose two red iris flowers drop when you go to the garden with Gwen on your team?
