I respect Photics.com dearly; it's my favorite fansite on the web. While it doesn't have volumes of content, the content it does have is unique and useful. For the same reason, I don't respect many of the newer, smaller fansites, because they simply copy much information from other sites in a non-extensible way.

Wiki is a different media than typical fansite. Where multiple fansites can be useful for different things, only one broad wiki is needed, and any more detract from all of them. It is a collaborative work -- the more who work on it, the better it becomes. When multiple wikis exist, each is far smaller than one could be, and all grow very slowly.

I sounded more hostile than I intended to be, and I apologize for that. However, I still believe that creating an additional wiki was shortsighted and anti-community. I think you'll cause more harm than good with it.

I think I'm in a fair position to say this; I started my own wiki around the same time GuildWiki formed. I actually had more content than GuildWiki did. However, when I saw GuildWiki, I began the process of merging the wiki I started with it. It made more sense that way. The new, combined wiki is now greater than the sum of its parts. I'd have suggested to GuildWiki that they do the same with yours, because you have the ability to garner exposure much faster than we do, but the software behind your wiki is underpowered (as far as I can tell; you seem to be maintaining indexes by hand, so I assume there's no category support like MediaWiki has) and/or different compared to MediaWiki, which the previous two used.

Fact is, just the existance of your wiki has stopped some of our contributors, because they know that what they write will only reach a segmented part of the intended audience now. You are in competition with us, and it is needless.

I urge the Crusaders and friends to continue working on a wiki, as the format is ideal for this game. However, I further urge that you focus these efforts on ours, or consider changing the format of your own so that we are compatable. Otherwise, the entire community is shortchanged, and neither wiki will ever be what it could.

(On a side note, I do appriciate you leaving my post intact. That is more than what other fansite forums did.)
