I was really happy when the Canon Digital Rebel was released. Here was a professional level camera (or at least really close) for under $1000. The only thing I didn't like about it, the camera wasn't black.

Oh sure, you can get the orginial digital rebel in black now... but why would I, now the XT is available? Why would I want to buy a 6.3 megapixel camera when I can buy an 8.0 megapixel camera. You'd think the XT would be the logical choice. You can get the XT in black... it's also faster and lighter.

It's one more thing... it's smaller! :o

They took a great camera and turned it into a girl's camera. No offense to the ladies, but this camera doesn't feel very manly. Why does everything have to be smaller? Can't a camera just be a camera? I mean come on... this is an SLR.

Anyhoo... I wrote a review...

I've been researching this for years now. My camera got stolen in 1999. I haven't replaced it since. Imagine that... a photographer without a camera is like a knight without a sword. Yet, I can't find anything I really like. I've been trying out the latest gadgets, but nothing makes me want to part with $1000. Also, knowing the longer I wait, the better camera I will eventually get.
