That would be pretty cool. I'm not really all that experienced with flash and anything to help would be good.

Looks like we do have a few programmers here. Any thoughts on making a future competition for executables?

This thread is good to see...

...as it contains links to good info. It's the info that I used to make Gwen's Quest.

I'm not sure how ArenaNet would feel about that. Don't they frown on the distribution of EXEs in the Guild Wars community? Plus, how would an EXE increase the popularity of this site? A rival site could directly link to the EXE. Plus, it wouldn't create that Online Arcade feeling. With all the games in one spot, a virtual hangout is created. There aren't many brick & mortar arcades these days.

So, Photics can be an online arcade - no quarters needed! :D

For now, it's a Flash Game Design competition. If you're new to the program, I totally recommend reading Flash MX Game Design Demystified. Maybe your local library has a copy. There's a guide to an Isometrical game in there. With the Point & Click controls, it plays just like Guild Wars.

If no one does a Guild Wars Pinball game or an Isometrical Game, that will likely be my next project. I have to wait until May before I can start work on another Flash game. I'm waiting to see what everyone can make first.

does it have to be in flash? What if someone wanted to use JavaScript or a java applet? Those type of games can be played in a browser window just as easily as flash .. how about shock wave? Not everyone knows how to write Action Script for Flash, and maybe not everyone has a Flash editing program .. but with JavaScript or a java applet, all one would need is a text editor :)

perhapse you could change it from a flash competition to a web-based competition? Then those without the extra cash to spend on a copy of Macromedia Flash could compete as well

OK... I'll allow JavaScript. That way, you don't have to buy any new programs to participate.

That way, you can see if you like Flash before you buy it. As far as I'm concerned, Flash is much better than Java... especially for Web Games.

Does anyone here want to create a web game using JavaApplets or Shockwave? I'm looking into the possibility of allowing those types of games into the contest too.

A java applet would be better for me.

The Pre-Order will unlock the special weapons for the Assassin and the Ritualist. You can see pictures here...
