- Game must have a Guild Wars theme
- Game must be a single player game
- Game cannot violate any copyright laws
- Game cannot be a clone of an existing game
- Game must not export to a SWF that is more than 1 MEG in size
- Game must not be wider than 630 pixels
- Game must not be taller than 500 pixels
- Game content must be suitable for ages 13+
- Final project must be submitted in .FLA format to Photics@aol.com
- You must be at least 13 years old to enter
- Complete contact information must be provided. (Name, Address, Telephone Number)
- Your game can link to your own personal website, if your website is not deemed offensive by Photics.com.
- Teams are not allowed. Only one person per entry.
- Game must include the Guild Wars fansite disclaimer text.
- Entry must be received by April 28, 2006


By submitting your game to Photics.com, you give Photics.com permission to publish your game in the Guild Wars Arcade (games.photics.com). No purchase is necessary to enter the competition. You do not need to have an active Guild Wars account, but that probably does help. Winners will be determined by Photics.com on May 5, 2006. In the unlikely event that Guild Wars: Factions (Chapter 2) is more than $49.99, Photics.com may select a replacement prize. If Guild Wars: Factions is not available at the time the winners are chosen, Photics.com will hold all of the prizes until Guild Wars: Factions is available. In the unlikely event that Guild Wars: Factions is not available in the first half of 2006, Photics.com may select a replacement prize. Applicable taxes are the responsibly of the winners. Photics.com is not responsible for any lost entries. If you do not receive confirmation of your entry within 24 hours, try using the photics.com forum to send a message.

Multiple entries are allowed, but only one prize package per winner. (For example, you cannot win second and third place.) Contest is void where prohibited. I am no good at programming, but would I be allowed to suggest ideas to people who are making games? You said no teams, but would people like me be allowed to help out anyone that needs ideas?

ONCE AGAIN... NO CLONES!

That means no Grand Theft Ascalon... no Arkanoid games with The Great Wall... no Pacman... Your game should be fairly unique. If you think your game is too close to an existing game, I suggest contacting me if you are planning on enterting the competition.

The point of the rule is that there is one name per entry. That's where the prizes are going... so there's no confusion. I don't want people telling me that I should mail the book to one person, the trophy to another, then the game to a third person.

If someone gets help from other people, that's not grounds for disqualification.
The forums are here for that very reason. :D

So I take it executable games are out of the question as they are not able to be played on the web?

It's a Flash game design competition... no exe's.

But if you can make an executable, it shouldn't be too hard to make a Flash Game. :D

Can I make a game you have to Download to play? I want to use something other then flash.

Nope... it's a Flash game design competition.
It's supposed to be shown off at the Guild Wars Arcade... http://games.photics.com
...which is essentially a management system for Flash Games.

I'm going to go through each .FLA file that is submitted... making sure there is nothing nasty in the game. I can't ensure that level of saftey with .exes. Plus, one of the main objectives is to get people used to visiting Photics.com. A downloadble file isn't going to help with that goal. You can download an EXE from any linking website.

Gwen's Quest is booby trapped. It will only run from Photics.com.
