There is obviously a lot of raw talent within the Photics.com community. Yet, we never did get around to starting a collaborative game design project. So, let's make a Flash game! Before we start anything, let's see who's interested. Then we can decide on what type of game we will make. This is a volunteer project. This is no compensation from Photics.com and the final game will become the property of Photics.com. Here are the types of roles available...

• Code Warrior (Actionscript)
• Musician
• Sound Effects
• Artists
• ...and maybe a writer

Ever hear of the fable Stone Soup? That's how I see this project. Basically, I'm the Project Manager. I stir the pot and act like this is the greatest thing ever.

Seriously, this can be a great project. It's good for practice and maybe even for self-promotion. Perhaps you're an artist that's looking to build a digital portfolio. Perhaps you're a musician, looking to expose your music to a new audience. Maybe you're good with actionscript and you find projects like this fun. Who knows, but I got the forum all set up and the Photics Arcade has plenty of room for a new game. Who wants to play along?

Over 100 views and no replies... perhaps we don't like working together after all? Maybe we should go back to the competition model?

OK... I'll make this real simple. If three people in the next 48 hours post that they'll enter a Photics.com Flash Game Design competition, then I'll start up another competition. Just vote yes in the poll. (It might not be exactly 48 hours, but I'm setting the poll to expire in two days.)

The Prize: Code to unlock access to Guild Wars Nightfall

Keep in mind, the prize may be related to Guild Wars, but your flash game does not have to be. It just has to be original, clean and fun!

My only problem with a collaborative work is that a lot of time and effort has to be put into coordination.. it's easier to do everything yourself, especially if you're working on the project in your spare time.

I've got an idea for an entry, and I might even do it completely with open source tools to give everyone else an edge

Obviously, I cannot enter my own competition, but I would take great offense to Nemisari's bold statement. Has last year's winner grown too smug? I feel like entering just to beat him. Heh... but there will be no competition if there aren't more "yes" votes.

I'd like to see Nemisari and Jizato go at it in a dual of design. Unfortunately, rules are rules. Without one more vote, there will be no competition!

Oh no! It looks like there's not enough interest in another Flash Game Design Competition. That's too bad. It would have been neat to see Jizato and Nemisari battle it out. It almost felt like a Ken vs Ryu type of rivalry was about to form. Maybe you two should set up your own design duel. You know, for fun. HA... that would be cool to see.

This reminds me of the "Morpheous is fighting Neo" scene from The Matrix.
