Unhappy XNA Competition - January?

I'm about to rest my tired head on a pair of comfy pillows. This restful slumber will be tainted by visions of things not yet fulfilled. January was started with a resolution - to create my own video game. With XNA - Microsoft's Game Studio Express - a road to that goal seemed paved. Alas, the road has been bumpy. Creating video games is challenging work. Motivation is needed... and greed works wonders.

The Dream-Build-Play competition was to be the catalyst for this lofty endeavor.

The words "contest begins in January" were the driving force behind the whole project. If prizes and glory could be won, surely determination to succeed could be found. Yet, the month is at an end. The contest has not started. I haven't even touched XNA in weeks.

Is all hope lost?!

perhapse the competition was just a hype builder to get people to use XNA? More people making XBOX360 games is good business for Microsoft. If they could get a few more developers to make geometry wars quality games it would increase the appeal of their console.

I'm guessing the competition will still go ahead .. they just underestimated how long it would take them to set it up?

Either way.. not all hope is lost

Heh, I was just being dramatic

I haven't given up on XNA. I'm still trying to get past the graphics hurdle. I have a new program to test out... SHADE! The Data Sheet for the professional version looks awesome. Although, the pro version is $800. The Standard version is fairly cheap... and it's even cheaper for Poser owners. It looks like I can upgrade my copy of Poser and pick up a new 3D program for only $200. Although, the Standard version doesn't have all of the export features that I'm looking for.

When I get some free time, I plan on testing the program out.
