Default Phoenix Pet

When you get to the end of the game you can tame a phoenix pet.
A ranger guildie showed me his.

My question is, can secondary rangers get these too, or is it only primaries?

My guess is as long as you have the skill "Charm Animal", it doesn't really matter if you're primary or secondary ranger

My Ritualist/Ranger has a Phoenix pet. Phoenixes are just normal really cool pets that can only be found at the end of the game. Just hope that no one kills it before you can tame it :P

When I heard "Pheonix" from one of my guildies who competed the game before me, I thought of tails of Fire and a bird of prey - like an Eagle on fire or something. I wanted one for my ele, as it would match perfectly. Then I saw it, and it dissappointed me. Not exactly what I was looking for, I decided to stick with my spider for my mesmer (it is still the best looking pet for FoW armor) and get a black Moa for my ele (whenever I get around to getting her there...)

Oh, and there are many at the palace after the mission is done, so if your team kills one, just go to the west and find another one.

Yes, it is too bad that the phoenix isn't a bird of fire in Guild Wars, but this is the next best thing to it I think. I would go for the Black Moa but everyone can get that and only people that have beaten the game can get phoenixes

Come on, it's a phoenix. It has to be on fire! That's why they're so cool!

Seriously, though, I don't really like how they look in this game. I think my A/R will stick with her white tiger.

That's not a limiting factor. Give people enough time and the majority will beat the game. So it's the same as the Black Moa in terms of availability. The UW spider is still the "limited" pet. A lot of people may be able to get to the end of the game, but not very many can organizie/get a group to go down into UW to capture a spider.

THe only thing that would be more limited than a spider would be if there was a special pet to charm in the Elite missions in the Capitols. Maybe the Luxons could get a small Seige Turtle or something, and the Kurzicks could charm a Blood Drinker or a Juggernaut Then I would drop my spider for that.

I'm working my phoenix to level 20, by the time loads of people have level 20 phoenixes chapter three will probably be out and I can tame a cool pet there with another character :P

All it takes to organize/get a group to get a spider - is gold. There's lots of people in TotA offering to run people to get a spider for various amounts. There is nothing special about having a spider.

Unfortunately, there is really nothing in the game that can't be bought or run to - even FoW armor only requires that you buy enough gold from someone and then hire someone to run the Forgemaster missions for you until it's safe to bring your wussy ass in to see him. :/

As far as the spider is concerned - been there, done that, got the spider. But I didn't like the spider (too Necro-ish for a ranger primary imho), so I dumped it. Now I have a plain old everyday Tiger (from the Monastery area) which I plan to keep for a long time.

Also, been there, done that, got the FoW armor, but....

IMHO, there is no point to getting a spider or a Pheonix, or Obsidian armor, or anything else in the game - in order to impress other people (since anything can be bought). Instead, get/do it because (or if) you like it or the look of it, or because it's a challenge.
