Take every quest you can find, and do the Primary Quests, they are the ones that advance the story line. You should be level 18+ by the time you leave the island. (And this isn't hard to achieve)

As Amaranth says, do the Primary Quests. When you get to Whatsitsname Harbor, carefully look around to make sure you get all the quests - there is an important 'horsey' guy off in one corner, that can easily be overlooked.

Remember to keep going back to the monestary to look for more quests. Once you have picked a secondary you should be going back to "earn" the insignia (or signet or somesuch...) for your chosen profession. That will give you more quests, and Togo will escort you to the minister's estate once you complete them.

Have you done any missions? I don't think the attribute point quests are even available until you have completed a mission. There are two missions on the noob island. The first one is at the minister's estate.

After you do the Zen Daijun Mission you are transported to Seitung Harbor. From there your primary quest should say to talk to First Mate Xiang who transports you to Kaineng Docks from there you can go to the Marketplace. If he doesnt take you then do the Unwelcome Guest quest first (15 attribute points quest) by talking to the Zunraa in Seitung Harbor (it a horse/goat looking thingy by a bell) after that you should definitely talk to First Mate Xiang and he should take you to the Docks.

you have to have finished Minister Cho's Estate, then you have to do Zen Dajun. Once you've done them,go to the harbor and talk to the FirstMate.he'll take you to the Mainland(MarketPlace)

Yeah, I have a lvl 15 w/mo in the harbor at the island. Ive completed both missions, talked to the first mate, went to the marketplace, but noticed that the henchies are all lvl 20 there. I have a feeling that I probably wont make it too far over on the mainland as a lvl 15. Ive tried to do the Captured Son quest several times and Ive failed each time. I try to pull some of the crimson skull guys from the big group, but it doesnt work. Are there other strategies that Im not thinking of? Thanks

The Captured Son quest is probably the hardest one on the Island - definately save it for after you've done all the others. Make sure you have a powerful group with you, and don't be too afraid to die if it means you can whittle down the Crimson Skull's numbers - that's what makes them dangerous. Lastly, make sure you've cleared the surrounding area first, then just spend a few minutes looking at patrol patterns; some of these guys will occasionally break off from the main group, and you can pick them off. Other than that, just don't give up.

Took me 4 deaths to finish Captured Son, definitely not the easiest quest on the island. It is completely optional however. After completing Zen Daijun, speak with First Mate Xiang in Seitung Harbor and he will grant you passage to the Marketplace
