Default Looking to join the guild

I have been playing GW for a month now, and have Factions on pre-order. I am a dedicated MMO player, just quit WoW after over a year (doing 6 hour Molten Core runs just started to drag on, and the Battleground ques were too long) so I decided to make Guild Wars my new home.

I am loving it. I have been without a good guild. I have been in a few that have just invited me after grouping, but none of them were serious about playing or having fun.

So I am curious about joining you guys in your guild. I am looking forward to the release of Factions and the PvP, PvE action that it will bring.

If you could let me know about how I can apply or who to talk to, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx again.

PS My char is Dark Galactik

I believe there is still a 5.1k admission fee. If you up for it, I'd happy to invite you to our guild. Just add me to your friend list.

Sure, the 5.1k isnt a problem at all. If its a good guild, I dont mind paying at all. I will look ya up after I am off work.

Thanx for the info, looking forward to gaming with you guys, both PvE and PvP.

Thanx again.

not to sound rude or anyhting but 5.1k to join a guild? That's pretty steep and kind of a scam in my opinion. Guild's are supposed to be there so people can join you and have a good time when they're on. Not have to pay to get into it. Just my opinion though.....

We have never charged anyone to join.
We feel the benefits of a good guildie out-weigh the 100gp cost if they bomb out.

It's a deterant... which does a very good job in weeding out scum.

It sends a message. The Crusaders is a collective of players that work together. In order to join that collective, you have to prove yourself as a giving individual. 5,100 gold is nothing compared to the benefits of being in this most prestigious guild.

Ironically, more people wanted to join when we instituted the guild fee. Plus, The Crusaders has a reserve of 140,000+ gold... which gives us the ability to throw special events. Many existing members of the guild gave 5,000 gold... just because everyone else was doing it.

Now... are you expressing your opinion, or showing jealousy? Unlike so many other guilds, The Crusaders doesn't have to beg for members. We don't spam the zone. We just exist. It's a system that has been proven effective. As far as I'm concerned, the membership rouster is much better now than a year ago.

It sounds like you're not at the cap. In order for The Crusaders to invite a new player, we often have to kick an inactive player out. When you're in the alliance, I won't mind sending new players your way. You'll see what I mean.

75% of our guild was online for the FPE weekend... and we were almost at cap. It's good that you have this feeling towards new players, because you'll be getting a lot more!

Pesonally, I think the 5k fee is one of the best policies we have implemented. It weeds out people who have no commitment or are looking for a handout. I think as factions rolls out spots in strong and active guilds will become more and more valuable. With our guild already near capacity we needed to create some sort of barrier to entry or get more aggressive kicking less active players out. And, frankly, 5k is not really that much of a barrier to a committed player. An alternative would be to hold some sort of try out system but I don't think there is much interest by Photics or among the officers to go down that route yet.

If you have a superior alternative please share it with us. Do we start kicking out players that haven't logged on in three weeks or maybe two weeks or is one week the right amount of time?

It's amazing how many lookieloo's there are out there. Join a guild, try to milk it and bail... If you dont want to pay 5K, there are plenty of guilds out there...

what i meant was i didn't understand why you have someone pay. After reading this I can understand it. And no, it's not jealousy. I don't even know where you go jealously from? I guess it was more of a non-realization of how big you're guild is and what you have to do to keep out people.

I apologize for my comment, as it was more of a misunderstanding in what you guys do go through than anything else. I know that there are people out there that only join for hand-outs which is why it is so hard for us to bring people in. Any ways to help prevent this would be great....

I don't see any problem with asking for 5k. Most anyone can make that amount in about an hour in FoW easy. Even faster if you get lucky. Last night I went into FoW for the first time in several months and did just fine. I paid the 1k to get in for our group and ended up with 3 shards after a couple of hours. Just about everybody in the group had at least 2 shards, which will easily sell for 4k each. There's no reason anyone who really wants to be in a good guild wouldn't pay 5k, I'd pay 10k or 20k if the Nudists needed it.
