Ranks and requirements
I know that when you first start off, you're rank is just Serf.
At 25 posts your rank changes to page.
At 50 or 75 (or any other number) posts your rank is 'Squire' but what is there after that, and how many posts do you need to achieve that rank?
And about the avatars, we can start using them when we reach 25 posts, but are there going to be avatars added for ranks further up?
Thanks for your time,
ShaKC

I think a line from The Legend of Zelda answers this nicely, "It's a secret to everyone!"
Heh, well... not everyone. IllidanIcerage has over 100 posts, which means he's achieved the rank of Knight.

I was wondering why you were posting so many replies. So, it looks like you're going for an avatar. Your replies have been fairly intelligent, so I'm not complaining. However, there are no new avatars after 25. I'd like to change that, but it's not a high priority. Only seven posters have unlocked the current set of avatars... and there's 10 Guild Wars icons to choose from.
You can see the top posters on the Member List page.
I've been thinking about starting a Warhammer Online fansite, so I've been eyeballing the Warhammer Buddy Icon page.
Basically, Photics Forum icons are supposed to increase in size as you gain rank. After 25 posts, you gain access to the 32 x 32 avatars. The plan is to add 64 x 64 avatars for form members with 100 or more posts. Anything after that is still a mystery... even to me. HA!

Hm.. So you knew about my plan on avatars...
I know it's quite annoying with me always questions and etc but, what about avatars for WoW fans? Maybe they can use images of their favorite characters race. Like.. I had (Only a 10 day free trial ) a Human Warrior and I liked it way more than my Tauren Shaman, so of course, the Human's picture's my avatar. By picture of favorite characters race, I mean when you goto the create-a-character screen, you click on the picture of the race you want to use, and that picture can be used as an avatar.
Hopefully that wasn't too difficult to understand...

I wouldn't add them all either. I think I'd narrow it down to the six different armies of war.

No, but I think a screenshot from the character creation screen would be good enough to create icons. The class icons would probably work well. I then could focus on the trinity of "WAR" games - Dark Age of Camelot, World of Warcraft and Warhammer Online. I have to think about this some more. From what I've been reading, it sounds like Warhammer has Realm vs Realm gameplay. If so, I think I've found my next MMORPG. I'll start up The Crusaders again. The guild kicked ass in both Dark Age of Camelot and Guild Wars... I'm fairly confident that we could do the same in Warhammer. I think it's time for a name change though... probably "Photics" or "Fist of Photics" ...so people will know to come to this site for the official guild forums.

Wow... how far back do you go? The Knights Templar hasn't been a part of The Crusaders since 2004. The Crusaders guild is still around, but not very active. That's why I'm thinking it's time for a new game. I was looking to rally everyone again with in Nightfall, but that expansion is more for the soloist. That's why I think it's time for a new game. While there are alliances in Guild Wars, the battles are never larger than 12 vs 12. Dark Age of Camelot was huge. I've been long battles, with 100 players on each side. If Mythic is doing that with Warhammer, then I'm going to give Mythic another shot. Here's what their site says about Realm vs Realm combat...
Quote:
Engage in four levels of RvR combat: - Skirmishes: Incidental PvP combat
- Battlefields: Objective-based battles in the game world
- Scenarios: Instanced, point-based battles balanced with NPC Dogs of War
- Campaigns: The invasion of enemy lands culminating in the assault on their capital city
|
I know we can do well in a Realm vs Realm environment. I have experience in leading large guilds to victory. Campaigns sound like great fun!

Now that's something I'd like to experience .. 100 vs 100 would be crazy!
Is WarHammer Online going to have a monthly fee?

Absolutely!
Did you have any ideas for the 64x64 icons? I'd like to see a couple from Asheron's Call.. it was my first MMORPG, and is still my favorite mmorpg of all time.
I found this avatar on the VN boards [link] it doesn't have to be animated, just one of the frames would do.. the thing is called a Life Stone, it's where you resurrect after dying and a common meeting place for goofing off. I've had lots of fond memories at the life stone
it's currently 80x80 with a grey background, but it would be easy to shrink it and make the background invisible

Yes... it will. You can read the official FAQ.

Will there be a subscription fee to play this game?
Yes. Given the expense of creating the game, maintaining the customer service system (in-game, phone and email) and creating new content, the only way for a company to justify these expenses is with a monthly subscription fee.
|
Of course, we Guild Wars players know that statement to be false. MMORPGs do not need Monthly Fees. They can drop the phone support. Just don't make the game buggy! Yet, I do not argue the value. The paragraph goes on to state that $10-$16 is an enetertainment bargain. I agree with this. Dark Age of Camelot was about 8? an hour for me to play.
Hey Nemi, what ever happened to Exteel? That's another game that I've been watching, but I haven't heard about any new developments.
I think avatars will be restricted to games that are currently active in the Photics.com site. That's basically games with a fansite program, where the game developers are OK with content reproduction.

DAoC was only $2.40 per month? I'm guessing it was closer to $12 per month, so it's more like 40? per day .. but still, that's less than a cup of coffee.

I haven't heard anything back from my Beta application, and I haven't seen any new developments on the website
I was hoping they'd keep the Q4 2006 deadline .. but due to the lack of information on the site, I'm guessing closer to Q3 or Q4 2007.. Or, heaven forbid, it turns out to be another Tabula Rasa

What if I got permission from Turbine to use the image as an avatar for this site?
