Happy Canada day to you and to my other friends from the north.
Do you think this is an event that should be added to the Photics calendar? I'm not too familiar with Canada day.

I hope all Canadians had a great day yesterday.
I ended up getting a bad sunburn, but that's what happens when you're outside volunteering from 9am-11pm.

Happy Canada day Jizato!
I updated the calendar to include Canada Day...
http://photics.com/calendar.php
Do you think the description is OK?
Also... Jizato... if you feel like sharing the information... what were you volunteering for?

For the past 10 years or so, I have helped out with the fireworks show back in my hometown. I got my license last year, so I am now able to fire the shows as well, which is way more fun/exciting than watching them.
And I am talking about real (professional) fireworks, not the stuff anybody can buy in the stores.

Sweet! I'd love to do something like that. I put off a decent display of fireworks this year ( a $80 pack from Cost Co.) firing multiple fireworks at the same time by lining up the fuses and lighting them with a bbq lighter... I hope to have a roll of fuse next year to set up something fairly elaborate

Interesting, you're an elementalist in real world too!
Here in NYC, they can take away your car if you transport fireworks... and I really REALLY like my car. Let me be as clear as I can: Possession or use of all consumer fireworks-M-80s, firecrackers, rockets, and sparklers-is illegal anywhere in the five boroughs. Anyone caught buying, selling, or using fireworks will be arrested. We mean business; so far this year, we've arrested more than 60 people for having or trafficking in illegal fireworks, and confiscated more than 760 cases of fireworks. Using a new enforcement strategy, we've seized more than 30 vehicles that were being used to transport fireworks. And, thanks to a law I signed last year, sale, possession, or use of fireworks can also result in stiff fines in civil court.

But this holiday weekend, I did manage to play fire. Well, I did it in a virtual way. Oh wow, I really have something awesome to share with the Photics community. Unfortunately, it's not ready yet. Maybe later this year, you might find yourself at Photics.com and thinking to yourself, "That's a nice fire effect."

Intriguing.. you must tell us more of your adventures with fire! At least a bit more than you've let on to so far

I can't post that here because it would be off-topic, and then I'd have to moderate my own post.
I'm a very chatty person. If you catch me in-game or in the Photics Chat room, I sometimes share some interesting information. But my little fire secret, oh no... way too delicate to post here.
So OK, back on-topic. I didn't know fireworks were common on Canada Day or that Costco.ca sells fireworks. I compared the .com to the .ca sites and I was disappointed. I thought America was the land of the free. But apparently, in my area of the United States of America the voluntary risk of self-combustion is frowned upon.
I mean sure, I'd rather spend my money on video games or software upgrades for photics.com, rather than burning it away in a blaze of pretty colors. Yet, shouldn't I have the option to celebrate the birth of my nation in a traditional fashion? Well, I could drive to a state where it's legal for me to shoot off fireworks... heh... and apparently Canada is an option.
