I wrote a review of the PSP today... http://www.epinions.com/content_185545363076
...but I'm wondering, how many people here actually have a PSP? Who do you think is going to emerge victorious in the portable battle?

I've always been into handheld gaming, but as it stands right now, I don't see myself buying either the PSP or the DS.
The DS' game library is very poor right now, and I haven't heard of many future games that I will be interested in (aside from Final Fantasy III). While the PSP may have a bigger selection of games to choose from, I can't see myself dishing out $300 for it, especially after recently buying a laptop.

I've had a chance to look at both .. I'm currently broke, so I wont be buying either any time soon lol
if I were to buy one (regardless of price) I would get the PSP
the PSP is not as clunky as the DS, not to mention it has better graphics and you can buy movies for it, it plays mp3s, and it only comes in black ;)
overall I find the PSP to have more features, and to be of better quality than the DS.
Even tho I've been a Nintendo Supporter all my life (my first console was an NES :) ) I'm finding myself drawn to Sony's products, simply because they have the best quality.. sorry Nintendo you're not putting up much of a fight :/

But i'm going to have to go with DS on this. One thing I like is the way they're going towards innovation than graphics, because graphics can only do so much till they all look the same :P. Also PSP really could have all the games on PS2 or other systems, they is nothing really special about PSP except it's portable which don't get me wrong is amazing on how it came out, the graphics are amazing and with movies and mp3s etc, but then I feel that I would buy more games for the DS cause they just seem more fun and different. I have played PSP, my friend owns one but the only game that I like is Lumines, which I must say i'm quite addicted too :D, like I said earlier games like NBA/NFL street and dynasty warriors can be bought on PS2. Also the current line up for it doesn't appeal to me alot for the PSP.

I cheated, I have one of each (DS and PSP), and the kids have SP's.
Durability wise, the SP wins, with the DS in second, and the PSP has a lot of moving parts, easily scratchable surfaces, etc.
SP positives: Cheap, lots of games that are cheap, small.
DS positives: Runs most of the games that the SP can (It won't run the GB Color or Mono games), the touchscreen has definite advantages in certain types of games. I've seen it for sale as low as $129 at Fry's Electronics.
PSP positives: The screen is gorgeous, uses 'standard' (hah) Memory Stick Duo cards (up to 1GB currently), can play mpeg4/mp3 files off of the memory stick. Analog joystick. You can put it to sleep without affecting the game in progress at any time. Save game files are stored on the memory stick, which you can read on a PC/Mac and backup your saves.
SP negatives: Games tend to be kiddie oriented, its 'old'. :-)
DS negatives: Its impossible to use the buttons, touchscreen, and d-pad at the same time. Its difficult to focus on both screens at the same time limiting their usefulness. Its 2x the size of a SP. Lack of games.
PSP negatives: Fragility (It is going to break, get a warranty). Lack of games. 2x the size of the SP. 2x the price of the DS.
-- Some text removed. Let's not talk about hacked and cracked hardware. OK?! :) ---

I just picked up a DS :D but have you tried the metroid demo? the controls work pretty well with the buttons and touch screen it's really all how the developers design the game to fit the controls so it depends, and viewtiful joe is coming out which will use the buttons and screens.
Yea two screens are hard to keep track of but like I said it's how the developers use them so some may just be maps so you don't have to pay too much attention to them.
