Well... I'm not having much luck downloading this demo. It was released today. What do you think... should I make a BF2 fansite?

im currently downloading the demo. 19% done, and another 7h+ to go... The official site's demo link doesn't work. I checked their "demos" FTP folder and its because they havent uploaded it yet, or it is in a different location. (edit: it is up now)

They released a demo? I have to try it out it looks pretty good

Looks like I wasted 560MB of bandwidth and 7h of time yesterday. It seems that the Battlefield 2 demo doesn't want to play on my computer.
I have a 128MB Radeon 9200 video card, 512MB RAM and a 2.2GHz P4 processor. There is no reason why this shouldn't work.

I get through all the intro screens, the BattleField 2 screen comes up, fades away, and then i get a black screen with a cursor. After about 1 min, I am taken back to my desktop (at a resolution of 640x480)

Do you have the latest ATI drivers?

actually that's your problem right there .. switch to nVidia :P

my driver was updated on March 22, 2005. I just noticed ATIs site has one from June 9th. I'll try that one and I'll post again with the results.

Edit) the new driver gives the same result.

Direct X 9.0c installed?

Edit: you can find out by running dxdiag from Start -> Run...

it installed 9.0c when it installs the demo.

Eh, a 9200 isn't exactly very good...

try re-installing the demo?

if that doesnt work, I'd try downloading the game again :/

... and if that doesnt work, you can try the ea tech support. I briefly looked for your problem but didnt find anything
