I'm working on a new project for Photics.com... one that required me to visit the official NCsoft website. For those of you that don't know, NCsoft is the parent company of ArenaNet.

Here's the NCsoft Press Release
http://www.ncsoft.com/eng/NCNotice/View.asp?hSeq=2

Guild Wars is up for Best Multiplayer game. Here's who they're up against...

World of Warcraft (Blizzard Entertainment)
SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs (Sony Computer Entertainment America)
Battlefield 2 (Electronic Arts)
City of Villains (NCSoft)

I wasn't going to watch. But hey, this involves my brethren. I'll be cheering for my team.
GO NCsoft... GO ArenaNet! :D

I think WoW will be tough to beat, but they're already nominated in five other categories. Unless Spike TV wants this to be a two-hour tribute to WoW, I suspect that WoW won't sweep. Guild Wars is clearly the best game in this category, as Guild Wars never hit me with a player queue or a $15 monthly fee. Plus, Guild Wars is global. Battlefield 2 was disappointing and City of Villains didn't seem as popular as Guild Wars. I'm not sure if Spike TV will pick up on all those important facts. If they do, I think Guild Wars has a good shot at taking this one. I'll be watching. Although, truth be known... Halo is still my favorite Multiplayer game. Two words: Rocket Launcher!

"Killing Spree!"
"Running Riot!"

Oh... and here's a link to Spike TV... http://www.spiketv.com

looks like WoW won. If you go to Spike and check the nominees, in best Multiplayer, WoW has a "Winner" beside it.

Isn't that silly? They hype this show for weeks... but they give the answers away on their website. I'm totally not motivated to watch this show now.

Maybe I'll play some Halo instead. :P

If I'm not mistaken, the VGA awards are voted on by the people. They put the nominations up and people vote. So, that means all the WoW people voted for their own game.

All I know is that I had some trouble watching that show. On the one hand, it was trying to make video games hip and trendy. This seemed fake to me, as the show was also very derogatory towards the industry. I didn't appreciate the constant references to video games being violent and addictive. I also didn't care for the rap music.

After the first hour, I went back to watching the Ranger game. Wow... what an ending on that one.

Also, I never realized how the video game industry is dominated by white characters. Or as the show put it... not black characters. Samuel's skit on that was pretty funny. It was also sad but true. I'm trying to remember any popular "black" characters in a video game...

Balrog - Street Fighter II
Barret - Final Fantasy VII
Skate - Streets of Rage II

Hmmm... not a lot. Even in Guild Wars... all the major heroes are white - Devona, Cynn, Aidan, Eve, Ranger Lady, Rurik, Orion. I suppose you can look at Krtyans, but I'm still confused if they are friends or enemies to the Ascalonians.

Anyone else watch the show? :|

I watched it and I also like the whole insult thing that they did with Samuel and Donald Faison.

I'm also surprised that nobody mentioned Guild Wars was voted the Best World in the Power Rankings (They showed these right after commercials) it won with 37 % of the votes.

I saw that... eh. It's just not the same. It would have been better to have one of the founders up on the stage... have a hottie present a weird looking trophy... you know... a big to-do.

You can make your character any shade of white or grey that you want... oh you mean the main characters that you can't change their pigment color.... hehe ... does that say something about Anet? :D
