During the upcoming weekend—September 15th through 17th—Alliance Battles will receive a boost. You'll receive double Balthazar faction for all kills, double Kurzick/Luxon faction for all kills, and double Kurzick/Luxon faction for all wins. In addition, the battle line movement will be accelerated and the line will be seen to shift hourly, rather than every three hours. Join in the fun starting at Noon PDT on Friday, September 15th.

Gee... another "grind for x" and earn double rewards weekend. I just can't contain myself. Hoo... ray.

The weekend events have gotten progressivly worse. On the bright side, Gaile Gray started a topic on GWG a week ago (or something like that) for ideas for mini-events. The topic can be found here:

How about a free 5,000 Kurzick/Luxon points so people don't have to spend millions of hours getting faction just so they can finish the game weekend.

I got a clan member that hasn't beaten the game yet because of this little annoyance. He doesn't play all the time, and when he does, he likes to actually progress in the game. Now he's stuck trying to get faction. He's not happy.

In all fairness, you can gather most of that faction by doing all the quests for that alliance. What I do hate, however, is that you only have half the game available to your characters at any given time (if you intend to use henchies, that is). I don't know what they were thinking when they designed the scenic part of the game like that. I have many characters that haven't done the Luxon part for that reason. My plan is to get them all there, gather the faction, and then take them all to the Hatchery at the same time. It probably won't happen, though. I haven't even played in weeks. It's just not very fun anymore.

Weekend events don't force you to participate in them....

I haven't been in an Alliance Battle for at least a month, I think they have a bad design. They are completely pointless to me. All I've been working on is hoarding materials and gold for Nightfall, and gathering more skills for my current characters. Faction has no meaning to me until I need Jadeite and Amber, which have been dropping for me as I farm Outcasts.
