Community Day at ArenaNet

This week, ArenaNet welcomes representatives from six of our Elite Fansites. The guests will be visiting ArenaNet this Friday, and they will post their impressions and articles over the course of the next week or two. We will link to those features from the Community Day Events Page as the articles are posted.

Ha ha, my invite must have gotten lost in the mail.

Actually, I was against the idea of Community Day. I thought the money could be better spent elsewhere. Think of what it costs for hotel and airfare for a bunch of fansite owners. I thought it would better serve the community to expand the fansite kit or add an RSS feed.

There's probably a bunch of paperwork to fill out. I hate that! Plus, I didn't want to appear in a mug shot.

But... now I have all this vacation time. I don't know what to do with it. I might have enjoyed a trip to Bellevue, Washington. (Considering that ArenaNet already has an RSS feed, and an extensive Fansite Kit, I really don't have anything to complain about.) I was thinking on surprising ArenaNet at this year's E3... but this year's expo is invitation only!

I'm saddened by this news.
...but I'll feel better after a few wins in Hero Battles.

Bah, I don't think "elite" really has anything to do with it. ArenaNet is playing geography. Look at the spread. "France, Germany, Spain, and the United States" - ArenaNet is maximizing the coverage of this event by diversifying the location of the fansites.

IGN is a major gaming site. Plus, that site deserves some Guild Wars lovin! I'm cool with that choice. Guru has one of the most popular Guild Wars forums, so this is a wise decision too. Yet, if you had to ask me, I'd say GuildWiki is the most important fansite in the Guild Wars community - aside from Photics.com of course. What a surprise, they're a "Specialty Fansite" too!

It's OK... really. I'm not mad.

I gotta find a spot to put the Speciality Logo.
