This raises a ton of questions...
- Why put the Guild Wars guys in charge of this? Does that mean no monthly fees for Lineage and City of Heroes?
- How does Tabula Rasa fit into this?
- Is this why Guild Wars 2 is delayed?
I had a feeling something crazy like this would happen. NCsoft could only bleed cash for so long. Eventually, the problem would gravitate toward the boys in Bellevue. In
Issue #31 (way back in July 2006) I wrote about this problem. I suggested that an alliance in the company was the way to go. I just didn't picture the founders at the lead. Yet, that makes sense. For game developers, business is just another form of war. Your generals have to be proven leaders... proven winners.
I'm not comfortable with the attention of the founders being diverted on lesser games. Yet, if games like City of Heroes and Lineage II suddenly have no monthly fees, I could get excited about other NCsoft games.
