It sounds technical, but setting it up is pretty easy.
  1. Download the software ( http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html )
  2. Install the software
  3. Pick a name or nickname to represent yourself
  4. Enter the Photics Team Number in Team Number field ( 60254 )
  5. Watch the team statistics page.
  6. Cheer!
You'll show up on the team page once you've successfully completed a Work Unit. Depending on the speed of the computer, and how long you leave your computer running, it could take a few days. I hardly notice the program running. It just puts a little icon in my system tray.

As I write this, the FahCore_78.exe is using as much as 98% of my CPU usage. (You can monitor CPU usage via the Windows Task Manager.) If I was doing something more processor intensive, like playing Guild Wars, the Folding software drops down. That's because it's set to Low Priority.

...but taking screenshots for this very thread.

I mean really... I can't think of an easier way to be a champion for humanity.

GO PHOTICS TEAM!

Great Job with the screen shots. It's that easy One should never know it's even running.

I guess I'm way ahead of the curve on this one... I've been running folding@home for years. I've only done about 50 work units, though, and I forgot my settings when I last upgraded my system, so only half of those still count.

It's tempting to join a team that has something to do with GW, but I'm already part of a team and we're ranked #138. But what the heck. I'm in!

I don't know if anyone's noticed, but we've blasted past the 10,000 mark.

I noticed. A few more WU's and we will be able to beat the 9k mark. I have 2 that will be done Wednesday and that should do it.
