According to an official Nintendo Press Release, the Wii News Channel will be available this Saturday - January 27, 2007. Here's the official word...

So... are you excited?

I think the Internet Channel was a disappointment, but the Forecast Channel is awesome. I'm not about to turn on my Wii to check the weather, but I like having that option. After playing a few rounds of Street Figther 2 on the virtual console, I like checking out the 5-day forecast. The RPG-like music is adorable.

I can see the news channel being more usefull than the Weather Channel and Internet Channel.. but it all depends on the implementation. I'm reserving my excitement until after it's released.. and then I'll only be excited if it's good :P

Nintendo has yet to impress me with their added features and online functionality (though the globe in the Weather Channel came pretty close)

Impressions: Great music, and overall very well done, with the slide show being the most impressive of the new feature
