Default New Wii Channel - Everybody Votes

In the darkness of night, a sudden blue glow engulfed the room. It was the slot illuminator. An important message was waiting for me. What was it? Was it from one of my Wii Friends? No, it was from Nintendo. What could they possibly want at this hour? Was it an emergency? If Mario's car has a dead battery, I'm not going out in the snow for a jumpstart. What else could Nintendo want? They already launched the News, Forecast and Internet channels. I wasn't expecting to hear from them again this soon. Yet, a message with a photo was waiting to be clicked.

One day I might by a video adaptor for my PC.

Here's the message...

Quote:
My dearest love, how I loathe the times that we are apart. Thoughts of you keep me going, for I know all the naughty things we'll do when we're...
No wait... wrong message...

We're happy to announce the surprise launch of the Everybody Votes Channel!

With the Everybody Votes Channel, you can answer popular questions like the one above and voice your opinion in a national and worldwide polls!

Voting is easy for anyone in the family. Simply choose a question you want to answer and select one of the two responses, then come back and see the results!

You can even predict which answer will get the most votes and learn how far your predictions differ from other people in the nation.

You can downlad the Everybody Votes Channel free of charge from the Wii Shop Channel now. But before you can use the channel, you need to perform a Wii System Update. Select Update on the bottom-right to update now.
I was really tired when I first read this message. After I pressed the update button, I stumbled around while looking for the Everybody Votes Channel. Where could it be? Oh right... the Wii Shop Channel. It's a two step process. First you update your system, then you head over to the Shop Channel.

Some people like cats, others prefer dogs. Some like their eggs boiled, others fried. Everybody has their own opinion, and now there's a way to find out exactly what other people are thinking. The results may surprise you!
It says that it was released on 2/13/2007 and that it's for 1-6 players. It's free, so I figured, "Why not?!" Please note, you'll need the Wii Remote to use this software. Like... DUH! My bigger concern is my dwindling supply of memory blocks. After the download, I was left with 1697 blocks. The Everybody Votes Channel took up 53 blocks of space. (The download page said 161 blocks maximum.) That's not a lot, but it's starting to add up. With all of the virtual console games that I bought, I'm going to run out of space.

OK... whatever... time to launch the channel!

After loading up the channel, it wanted to know where I lived. How personal! OK, whatever, NEW YORK... are you happy? Err... confirm my choice? OK... OK... NEW YORK... alright?! Leave me alone about this personal stuff. I'm not asking where you live! Choose language... English... choose Mii... OK... are we there yet?
With all of the preliminaries out of the way, I have to say that this is adorable! You drag your Mii onto your choice. For example, I think Roses are more romantic Valentine's Day gift than Chocolates. While flowers may die, chocolates will make you fat! Flowers say I care and I want you to stay healthy! I might give chocolate to just about anyone, but flowers are reserved for that special lady.

There were four questions that I answered, then I suggested my own question. "Who has more fun in life... men or women?

The Everybody Votes channel isn't terribly impressive. I'm not quite sure what purpose it serves. Yet, it was mildly entertaining and it's free. I consider it a nice Valentine's Day gift from Nintendo.

Played with this last night after I saw an article about it on one of the Nintendo blogs I frequent .. I found it quite entertaining and look forward to seeing how my opinions differ from the rest of the world.. and if my predictions were right

neat little feature with a perfect price point too.. FREE!

My Recommendation: Get it!

(Who voted they'd rather live on a Beach?! )

I'd rather live on a mountain, but I figure beach would be the the more popular answer. I got the Valentine's Day question right. Obviously roses are a romantic gift. I could give a co-worker chocolate, but they'd look at me weird if I gave them flowers.

Roses win... 72.1% to 26.9%.
