It seems that ArenaNet’s viral campaign has ended and a new battle has begun. The image at the War In Kryta is no longer obscured. While the growing battle between the White Mantle and the Shining Blade is growing clearer, I’m still a bit confused as to what I should do about it. What is for certain, ArenaNet is working on some new content for the original series. Very likely, the tension between the two factions will climax on April 28… the fifth anniversary of Guild Wars.
Previously, I didn’t really concern myself with the struggle between the White Mantle and the Shining Blade. Too many of the main characters were dropping dead for me to keep track. Actually, I consider that’s one of the most problematic points in the storyline. Are the White Mantle friends or foes? They seem more like foes to me. As for the Shining Blade, maybe they’re cool… maybe they’re not… I don’t know. What I do know is that I have a really hard time finding my way through the Maguuma Jungle. I think that’s where a lot of players got lost. TANK (my Ranger / Elementalist) hasn’t progressed further than the Henge of Denravi.
Although, I think it’s a good idea that ArenaNet has been revisiting this part of the lore. Perhaps it will motivate players to complete the Prophecies campaign or to explore the lands of Tyria once again.
Here’s a statement from the official Guild Wars website…
Today we’ve added all-new content that sets the stage for major upcoming events in the beleaguered nation of Kryta. Desperate to keep their grip on power, the White Mantle have cracked down on their populace by bringing in ruthless Peacekeepers. Elsewhere, the asura Arcane Council places the golemancer Zinn on trial. Read the update notes for more details!
Interesting… I’m not sure how the Asura got involved in this mess. But then again, I never completed Eye of the North. ArenaNet suggested that I refer to the update notes for more information…
Tyrian Events
To better serve the Krytan people and maintain order, the White Mantle has formed the Peacekeepers. You’ll find these friendly and polite volunteers all through Kryta, offering assistance to common folk and searching for rebel sympathizers. Say hello to a Peacekeeper today!
Bear witness to the trial of the century! The renowned asuran artificer Zinn will stand before the judgment of the Arcane Council for orchestrating an assassination scheme using golems of his design. Speak with Chark outside of Vlox’s Falls to attend the trial.
I’m at a disadvantage for this event. I don’t know which side to pick. I don’t even have Vlox’s Falls unlocked. I am starting to get motivated though. It’s been years since ArenaNet did something this significant… and I like what I see so far.
According to Regina on the wiki, Linsey is sick so the War in Kryta updates will be a bit behind schedule.
