I’ve been looking at the new Android phones and a lot of them do not have keyboards. I don’t know why the industry is still playing “me too” with iPhone-like interfaces. But as an app developer, I have to be aware of this issue. Considering that keyboard-less android phones have few buttons, the menu button becomes more important. That meant I had to get past a developer hurdle – learning how to add menus to my android apps.

Nicholas The Traveler – Roaring Ether Hearts
Week 38 of Nicholas The Traveler’s scavenger hunt was a bit nostalgic for me. I remember fighting elemental monsters in the Mirror of Lyss. Back in the day, I was farming points for the Lightbringer Title. For each slain Djinn or Roaring Ether equaled, I was two points closer to my title. That’s why I was pleased with this week’s item – Roaring Ether Hearts. A lot of people seem suspicious when I tell them that I’ve been playing Guild Wars for almost six years. (I started in February 2004.) But it’s true, just go back into the archives of this website. The years just seem to fly by. If you go back to May of 2007, you’ll see some familiar territory.

Nicholas The Traveler – Gold Doubloons
Week 37 of Nicholas The Traveler’s scavenger hunt brought me to Nightfall territory. It’s amazing how many forgotten corners there are in Tyria. If not for Nicholas, I might never have seen them. Oh sure… it’s the usual click… click… click… kill, just like anywhere else in the game; but there’s something about these weekly adventures that brings Guild Wars to a new level. There’s lore, there’s loot and there’s opportunity. I’m seeing new places and making new friends… in a game that I’ve been playing for almost six years. Anyway, I’m not here to get nostalgic. This article is about how to complete this week’s objective – Gold Doubloons in the Barbarous Shore.
Installing Windows on My Mac Mini
Back in the 90’s, I was a die-hard Mac fan. That’s only natural when your college is loaded with software and hardware from Apple. Even shortly after college, my graphic design work was mostly done on a Mac. But a decade later, I’m a Windows guy. The hardware is cheaper and the software is plentiful… including video games. Although, I recently bough a Mac Mini. I wanted to see if the grass was greener on the other side. It wasn’t, not for me. Having re-experienced the Mac OS side of things, I found more success with Android development than iPhone OS development. My Mac Mini went unused. The neglect was so bad that I didn’t even have it hooked up to the Internet. My shiny new Mac had turned into a dust collecting box. It needed new life… so I installed Windows on it!
-Character Argument Added to the Guild Wars Command Line
If you checked the latest Guild Wars update notes, you might be confused. It said… Added support for “-character” command line argument, allowing players to automatically fill the security question field in the client …but what does that mean? Basically, it’s possible to set Guild Wars to auto-load your login information. You click your Guild Wars shortcut… and boom… you’re sent to the character select screen. You won’t have to type your email, your password or your security question. This can take the tedium out of ArenaNet’s new security measures. But in doing so, you might add a new vulnerability.
