Back in the 90’s, I was a die-hard Mac fan. That’s only natural when your college is loaded with software and hardware from Apple. Even shortly after college, my graphic design work was mostly done on a Mac. But a decade later, I’m a Windows guy. The hardware is cheaper and the software is plentiful… including video games. Although, I recently bough a Mac Mini. I wanted to see if the grass was greener on the other side. It wasn’t, not for me. Having re-experienced the Mac OS side of things, I found more success with Android development than iPhone OS development. My Mac Mini went unused. The neglect was so bad that I didn’t even have it hooked up to the Internet. My shiny new Mac had turned into a dust collecting box. It needed new life… so I installed Windows on it!

-Character Argument Added to the Guild Wars Command Line
If you checked the latest Guild Wars update notes, you might be confused. It said… Added support for “-character” command line argument, allowing players to automatically fill the security question field in the client …but what does that mean? Basically, it’s possible to set Guild Wars to auto-load your login information. You click your Guild Wars shortcut… and boom… you’re sent to the character select screen. You won’t have to type your email, your password or your security question. This can take the tedium out of ArenaNet’s new security measures. But in doing so, you might add a new vulnerability.

Video Game Management Style
Ever wonder why so many people try to escape reality by going into video games? True, I love video games… but the real world should be more desirable. I was puzzled by this oddity. Why does virtual loot become more valuable to people than real loot? More specifically, why is eight hours of killing rats in World of Warcraft considered so addicting, but eight hours of office work is so dreaded? That’s when I had an epiphany. It’s the management style. Video Games are about managing people. What do the players do with their time, how do they work/play together and what are fair rewards? These are important principles that office managers tend to miss. That’s why I’ve created this Video Game Management Style article. Perhaps it could lead to more productive and happy workers.
Guild Wars Down For Security Update
I’m shocked! Guild Wars was down! I’ve been playing Guild Wars for almost six years. In all of that time… including the Alpha / Beta days… I’ve hardly ever seen Guild Wars down. But today, I was kicked out of the game and I received the following error, “Guild Wars was unable to connect to any login servers. This is very likely caused by an internet routing issue. If this problem persists, please visit the Guild Wars support website. (Code=058)” In other MMORPGs, downtime is typically a normal occurrence. In ArenaNet’s game, I’m more likely to loot a Black Dye than to see the servers shut down like this. Fortunately, the official site is online. The answer for this outage was revealed.
Getting Ready for the 2009 Wintersday Party
So yeah, I deleted TANK again. I decided that going for the Defender of Ascalon title is just too insane. Death leveling just feels wrong. So instead, I turned him into a Ranger. I’m going for the Survivor title… again. It seems a lot harder as a Ranger. I’m having trouble getting over the Shiverpeak mountains, but this is a mission that I must complete. I’ve been cordially invited to attend the 2009 Wintersday festivities. With over two weeks of extra loot, this is a perfect opportunity to farm titles. Therefore, I want to get to Kilroy’s Punch-Out Extravaganza. That means I have to make it to Lion’s Arch, and then travel over to the Eye of the North expansion.
