While Manhattan may be an island, I’m not used to seeing sand in Times Square. Today, Nintendo was busy promoting Wii Sports Resort – the sequel to Wii Sports. Kiosks were playing the latest Nintendo hit, which is not available until 7/26/2009. While kids of all ages huddled around the flashy screens, others were relaxing in lawn chairs. I’m always impressed by the nonchalant attitude of New Yorkers. The majority of the populous can handle most unusual circumstances with nonchalance. In the middle of a busy city intersection. I didn’t see a whole lot of commotion, not a whole lot of fuss, just a cool event in the middle of a hot city.

This Spring/Summer, in New York City, was unusually cold and squishy. There was a lot of rain and below average temperatures. Is the planet’s thermostat broken? While the debate on global warming heats up in the real world, the world of Guild Wars is definitely about to cool off. ArenaNet is celebrating Wintersday in July – THIS WEEKEND! For those of you not familiar with Guild Wars lore, that’s basically the Tyrian equivalent of Christmas. So if you’re feeling festive, the party starts Friday, July 17.
Right now, I’m outside the reach of ArenaNet’s Non-Disclosure Agreement. That means if I uncover secret information about Guild Wars 2, through ethical means, I can post it here. I’m planning watch ArenaNet, and to figure out what they’re up to. At some point, maybe they’ll invite me into the beta just to keep me quiet. ArenaNet / NCsoft is a growing company, with lots of secrets. Eventually, someone will slip up and information will leak. You just have to know where to look. A good source of inside information is available through their job postings.
If you’ve been following the latest scientific advancements, people might live forever. From cloning body parts, to downloading your brain into a computer, there are all sorts of theories that suggest an indefinite lifespan. But what about today? What about on your Wii? If you were to leave this world suddenly, what would happen to your virtual persona? What would happen to your Mii when you die?
I like how ArenaNet celebrates the holidays. It’s the Fourth of July weekend. We the people of the United States of America are celebrating the birth of a nation. Meanwhile, in the world of Guild Wars, Cantha is having their annual Dragon Festival. That means seasonal games, quests and prizes for Guild Wars player. This event is especially important for title farmers as the Boardwalk is open during this time of year.
