10 Ways To Make Guild Wars Better

essence-bond-thumbnailThere’s something different about this website. While it is a Guild Wars fansite, it’s not about a community of rabid fanboys. Through the dialogue that occurs here, and behind the scenes, we acknowledge that Guild Wars is a great game… but it can always be better.Β  It’s one of the many reasons why ArenaNet encourages fansites. Through respectful conversation, the game can be improved. That’s why I’ve comprised this list of issues that I see with the game. Historically, ArenaNet has listened to the community and improved their game. With Guild Wars 2 on the way, and years of gameplay still left in the original, discussion like this can forge a better future for the franchise.

Nicholas The Traveler – Shiverpeak Manes

week-34-traveler-thumbnailWeek 34 of Nicholas The Traveler’s scavenger hunt is a bit more light-hearted. For one, it’s in a much easier zone. It’sΒ in Deldrimor Bowl – a zone of medium difficulty. It’s an easy trip from Beacon’s Perch. The Shiverpeak Horsemen, which drop the Shiverpeak Manes,Β are not much of a threat to a level 20 fighter… or even a level 20 pajama wearing magic caster. But there’s something else that’s more jovial about the latest mission from Nicholas, it’s the story. It’s somewhat amusing.

Happy Thanksgiving – Special Treats Weekend

sweet-treats-weekend-thumbnailArenaNet continues their tradition of celebrating the holidays in Guild Wars. Since this weekend is Thanksgiving, computer controlled monsters will drop Pumpkin Pie and Hard Apple Cider. Even in the virtual world of Tyria, there will be lots of eating and drinking this weekend. I enjoy these events because it’s great for title farming. If you’re working on your Sweet Tooth or Drunkard title, the extra loot helps. Supposedly, this digital gluttony will be rewarded in the sequel.

Nicholas the Traveler – Week 31 – Plague Idols

week-31-traveler-thumbnailHave you ever seen the movie “Lord of War with Nicolas Cage? Basically, it’s about an arms dealer who gets incredibly rich by selling / smuggling weapons to warlords all over the world. Does this sound familiar? If you complete this week’s Traveler run, you might see some striking similarities. I’m just going to admit it… I suspect that Nicholas the Traveler is a Guild Wars arms dealer. For Week 31, I found him standing with my enemies. Nicholas boldly admitted that he was trading with the Jade Brotherhood. Yet, I didn’t kill the traveler. The game won’t let me. But even if I could, I probably wouldn’t. He supplies me with the items I need to wage war too.

Nicholas the Traveler – Week 30 – Guardian Moss

week-30-traveler-thumbnailOh no… it’s Swine Flu in Guild Wars… or is it Yak Flu? Professor Yakkington, the pet belonging to Nicholas the Traveler, has come down with some sort of condition. Is this a precursor to a Tyrian plague? I don’t know, it could just be some random text thrown into the box. After 30 weeks of trying to find Nicholas, maybe the developers have run out of good storylines. No, I don’t think so. Actually, I’m beginning to wonder if something deeper is going on here… something that transcends the game itself. What are you up to ArenaNet?!
