Imagine waking up and finding $25. It has a little note, “Thanks for the hard work, love Google!” That’s a nice feeling right? Imagine the next day, finding $40 from Google. Imagine the following day, finding another $75. Wow, look at all this money! It keeps coming and coming. Now imagine this. A month later, Google comes in the middle of the night, punches you in the head, yells an insult at you and then takes back the money. That’s what my experience was like, being an Android developer.

If you went by the rating of Guild Wars titles, I’m an unlucky player. I already have two ranks in the unlucky title track, but I still haven’t reached the first rank in the lucky line. That means I’ve been breaking a lot of lockpicks. When the merchants sell them for 1500 gold each, that’s a lot of gold lost. Perhaps my situation will improve during this weekend’s event, where there will be extra lockpicks and double lucky/unlucky points from opening treasure chests. An event like this is a refreshing boost for title farmers – like me!
After years of waiting, ArenaNet finally released something new about Guild Wars 2. It’s a trailer and it’s a beautiful thing to see. The beginning of the video highlights concept artwork, and then it fades into actual game scenes. If you’re familiar with Guild Wars lore, there shouldn’t be too many surprises here. The game looks amazing. The trailer was impressive. I carefully analyzed the content. But unfortunately, it left me with more questions than answers.
I’ve been busy working on some new projects for Photics.com. I needed to grab a Guild Wars skill image. While wandering over to the official Guild Wars website. I spotted an unusual announcement. It said, “Guild Wars Live Test Krewe Ready to Roll!” What is that supposed to mean? The description said, “Our Asuran technicians have finished weaving their magic, and it is time to get things rolling.” Um, that still didn’t make any sense to me, but the next paragraph helped clarify things.
Photics.com is one of the oldest Guild Wars Fansites out there. Back in December of 2003, I had a unique idea for a Guild Wars fansite. Instead of focusing on a forum or cheat sheets, what if I made an electronic magazine? After dozens of issues, and thousands of visitors, the idea brought lots of popularity to Photics.com. However, I realized that something was wrong. It was mostly a solo project. The Internet is more for collaboration. Issue #35 aims to fix that problem. The Guild Wars community is invited to contribute content for the Tuesday, September 22, 2009 issue of Photics: The Guild Wars Edition.
