Xbox One Does a 180

Xbox One Controller (Thumbnail)I was gearing myself up to write an epic rant. I’m astonished at how stupid Microsoft has been. My Xbox Live account is “forever stuck in a corrupted state“, Windows 8 didn’t launch with the Start Button and the new Xbox One was about to be a stillbirth. Obviously realizing that Sony was about to eat their lunch, Microsoft finally woke up. Apparently, the next generation Xbox will not require a daily Internet connection to play offline games and limitations on selling used games have been removed.

PayPal vs FastSpring – Which Is Better For Me?

PayPal vs FastSpring Chart ThumbnailA lot more digital content is on the way from Photics. With the return of Revisions (possibly a sequel too), a Stencyl book and maybe a book on Drupal 8, I started wondering about e-commerce. Am I managing my products in the best way possible? How should my books be sold? Currently, the Unofficial GameSalad Textbook is sold through FastSpring. Is that what’s best for me? What if I managed my own online store? PayPal has been around for years. Why not use that instead? Technology aside, which is cheaper? I decided to run the numbers.

World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC 2013) ThumbnailThe World Wide Developers Conference is where Apple shows off its new toys. It’s also a mecca for developers. The week long conference is a place where tech-head can learn about Apple technology. It’s serious business. Even at $1600 a ticket, the event was sold out in little over a minute. So, it’s no surprise that I didn’t attend. However, I did watch the Keynote speech online and I liked what I saw. I’ve been wondering if Apple can survive in a post-Jobs era. Today, I saw encouraging signs that it can.

Sonic The Hedgehog Review (iOS version 2.0 – 2013)

Sonic the Hedgehog Title Screen - Thumbnail ImageIt doesn’t feel like it to me, but Sonic The Hedgehog is over two decades old. And in the early 90’s, it would have been inconceivable for me to imagine such an incredible – and portable – port. The 2013 iOS version of Sonic The Hedgehog is better than the original. It’s been a while since I’ve played an iOS game until the “Low Battery” warning appeared. The difference here is that I fully recharged the phone and played until the warning appeared again.

Annoyed Tomatoes Back Online

Annoyed TomatoesIt took a while, but now I’m starting to master Stencyl. After nearly two years of working on many unfinished Stencyl projects, I finally finished a full game. Today, Annoyed Tomatoes returns as an online Flash game. Annoyed Tomatoes originated as an iOS app, which was meant to be an Angry Birds clone. But somehow, it morphed into a shooter. Yeah, it’s a little goofy, but it’s part of Photics history. It was also a great learning experience. Now I’m better prepared for completing my Stencyl book.
