After four months of creating apps again, I realized something. This isn’t the path of success. I had learned this harsh lesson already with the creation of “BOT”, but I had to be sure. I was testing new technology and a new methodology in creating / promoting apps. Would this time be different? NO! It was a disappointment. So, what went wrong?

A 10-Year Mission
Photics.com is about to enter its 20th year of existence. That’s a fairly significant milestone. After publishing A Book About Hype, hitting #1 on the iTunes Book Store, there was an unanswered question about the future of this website – what’s next?! After two years of serious consideration, Photics is getting back into app development. Starting today, a 10 Year Mission officially begins. The idea is to create 10 apps a year for the next 10 years.
New DuckDuckGo Bang – !photics
You’re not seeing double. This is another DuckDuckGo article. In the previous post, it was announced that the “!pho” bang was available. While “pho” is short for “Photics”, it’s also a vietnamese noodle soup. That might get confusing. Fortunately, this site now has more than one DuckDuckGo bang. Now you can use “!photics” or “!pho” to quickly search Photics.com from the DuckDuckGo website or from a DuckDuckGo powered search bar.

DuckDuckGo is a search engine that emphasizes privacy. The site explains itself as, “The search engine that doesn’t track you.” That’s an important feature with today’s increasingly invasive technology — but that’s not the main reason why I like DuckDuckGo. I like healthy competition. I’ve had lots of bad experiences with Google, so it’s nice to see a strong alternative. I’ve switched my default search engine to DuckDuckGo and it’s been pretty good. A New Book, A Good Start
“A Book About Hype” launched yesterday. While that is an exciting occasion, the moment of truth happens on the following day. When I woke up this morning, all blurry eyed, I reached over to my nightstand and grabbed my iPad. After months of hard work, I was curious to see the sales. On iTunes, a strong launch is critical. Otherwise, thousands of other content creators will crush the project. I was delighted to see that the new book wasn’t crushed. Instead, it was off to a good start.
